Olusegun ‘Pelumi Olukoga is a Journalist and serial Mediapreneur; he’s better known as ‘Pelumi.
‘Pelumi is a Professional Media Practitioner with over 15 years of postgraduate experience. His areas of Professional interest include writing, reporting, editing, strategic media marketing, planning, and researching.
EDUCATION
‘Pelumi holds an HND in Mass Communication from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos with Upper Credit and an Award of Excellence as Best Student in Entrepreneurship.
He later studied Mass Communication at Crescent University, Abeokuta and graduated with a Second class Upper. He holds a National Diploma in Mass Communication from The Polytechnic, Ibadan (Adeseun Ogundoyin Campus, Eruwa), a professional training certificate in Journalism from the International Press Institute amongst other professional certifications and media seminars.
EARLY CAREER LIFE
‘Pelumi originally started his journalism career as a student writer with Polyray magazine, providing content, and supervising advertising and marketing; after school, he gathered further experience as a trainee at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Ibadan and later, Nigerian Television Authority NTA in Akure, South West, Nigeria; for four months and one-year industrial attachment respectively as part of the requirements for the award of Ordinary National Diploma OND obtained at the Polytechnic, Ibadan. He later cut his teeth as a freelance reporter at the Nigerian Television Authority, Akure. He left NTA Akure in October 2012 to concentrate on his higher degree and professional programmes which he started in year 2010 at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism NIJ, Ogba. Before his final exit from NTA, he shuttled between classroom and newsroom, acquiring knowledge and discharging his reportorial duties.
For his love for Journalism, he had a brief internship at Red Carpet Communications Limited, an independent television production firm in Lagos where he perfected the nitty-gritty of broadcast television production and script writing for a period of 10 months. Out of passion and zeal to experiment with new media operations, ‘Pelumi combined and turned all his huge media and event experiences into a business venture. In January 2013, he founded X-DEGREE INFO.
‘Pelumi continues to exhibit great passion for hard work and gratifying promises of an enduring romance with broadcast journalism.
He is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ and an associate member of the international Press Institute.
For his love for law profession, ‘Pelumi is considering other fields of interest in law and foreign languages.
CAREER
Olusegun Pelumi Olukoga joined Silverbird Television in 2014 as a News Correspondent. He was the Bureau Chief in Niger, Ekiti States, and later Ogun State; he rose to the position of a Senior News Reporter and he resigned in September 2024 from the employ of Silverbird News24 after 10 years of meritorious service. In 2013, he was a mobile advert officer at Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency LASSA before joining Silverbird Communications in April 2014.
‘Pelumi is a Mentor, Speaker, Trainer, Facilitator, Ideas Generator and a Rural Development Advocate.
He can be contacted for Radio/TV Media Consultancy, Public Relations, and Broadcasting related concepts; ‘Pelumi has proven ability with extensive professional experience in both the public and private sectors whose core competence covers design and management of communications structures and processes, media and government relations.
OTHER INTERESTS
He is the convener of AWAKE – a community-oriented project designed to explore opportunities for rural dwellers; primarily to equip and nurture them to self-esteem/reliance through:

He had always been involved in humanitarian services as a member of Junior Chambers International, Nigeria – JCIN.
He is a farmer; dedicated to plantain plantation and animal husbandry. He also trades in beans and palm-oil as well, hoping to expand the scope to become a household name.
‘Pelumi is passionate about his vision believing that it is high time things are done differently – from national development, social-economic freedom/stability to self-discovery/development; the “bottom to top” approach he has adopted is basically to do things the unusual way… And he says, let’s AWAKE because a new Nigeria is possible.
‘Pelumi is a lover of Nigerian History, Sports, Travel and Tourism.
WORKS OUTSIDE PROFESSIONAL CALLING
Currently, he was appointed National Director, Media and Publicity, Amalgamated Atiku Support Group. In that capacity, he was responsible for managing the group’s media office, media relations and leading the group’s public communications team in the build-up to the 2023 general elections.
‘Pelumi is actively engaged as a consultant on media and public communication for Non-governmental organizations, and individuals in the conventional, political and corporate world.
